In 1992, Jeep introduced the Grand Cherokee but didn’t release it until 1993. However, the concept for this model goes back all the way to 1983. Designers worked tirelessly on how the vehicle would be perceived by the public and its stance against competing brands. As the years went on, Jeep was more confident in its progress and brought the car to the public. Up until 2010, the Grand Cherokee was considered a midsize SUV. By 2011, the model was identified as a midsize crossover, which means it carries the size and aesthetic exterior features found in both sedans and SUVs. Another fun fact about Jeep is that they have a manufacturing plant in Toledo, OH. This facility is about three hours away from the Athens area and has been there since the 1940s.
